The Top Mistakes People Make When Selling Used Cars
You will want to get the maximum price that you can for any used car that you are selling. Many people selling used cars make common mistakes; here are just ten of these.
1. They forgot to prepare themselves for questions that the buyer might ask. So when any questions were put to them, they ended up sounding really nervous. It is important that you are able to reassure the buyer by confidently answering their questions. The most important one will be, “why are you selling the car”. Do not say that it has let you down on many occassions; you should be saying that you are replacing it with a new car.
2. The seller put no effort into making the car appear presentable. People who are coming to view a car want it to look as though it is in good condition and that it has been cared for. If your vehicle looks like a trash can or is dirty then people won’t be impressed.
3. The tyres have been allowed to wear down too much. There are many people who will see worn down tyres as an indication that you did not look after the rest of the car either.
4. The seller is either too friendly or not friendly enough. There is a fine line between being rude and then being over the top; make sure you are friendly but don’t overdo it. Never be rude to anyone who comes to see your vehicle; they are doing you a favour.
5. They can’t find the paperwork for the car. This is one mistake that you should definitely not be making; after all it is essential that you can show this documentation to potential buyers if you want them to buy your car. They shouldn’t have to wait while you go dig it out; this is something you need to get ready beforehand.
When you think it’s time to look out for used cars for sale, you may end up much better off by thoroughly researching the cars that interest you. Researching allows you to find the very best used cars for the category you are looking for. When your research is done, you could very well end up with a great used cars walsall or even a used cars warwick.
Why Exhaust Wrap May Help An Engine
High performance engines are normally subjected to extreme and demanding conditions. Because of this, these high performance engines also produce an excessive amount of heat which impacts total engine performance and the durability of external engine components. Thankfully, exhaust wraps are available which can dramatically reduce the engine compartment heat.
Excessive hot operating conditions are a natural enemy to most high performance engines. When air and fuel become hot, they don’t assist the combustion process as effectively as they could. Colder air and fuel going into the engine will burn more efficiently and ultimately allow the engine to generate increased performance.
Critical exterior engine components are often subjected to excessive heat in high performance vehicles. External parts, such as alternators, can fail before their time as the result of heat exposure. Often, these parts may be expensive to repair. By minimizing their exposure to heat, automotive enthusiasts can prolong the life of these engine components.
Installing exhaust wrap on the exhaust manifolds is the easiest way an automotive enthusiast may use to reduce their engine compartment temperature. In most situations, the temperature reduction can be as high as fifty-percent. Other thermal protection products are also available which can further increase external engine part protection with component specific thermal shields. Utilizing exhaust wraps and component wraps at the same time, the radiant heat exposure to particular external engine parts can be reduced by more then seventy five percent.
Nearly all performance vehicle owners can install exhaust wrap products themselves. In many situations, the exhaust wraps are put on the exhaust manifolds with the vehicle off the ground. The wrap is installed in ¼” overlaps over all the pipes. Where the wrap begins and ends should be fastened with a specially designed clamp that is designed for high temperature environments. Glass fiber wraps must have an outer coating of high temperature silicone applied to the wrap, while the more expensive pulverized lava rock wraps don’t require an exterior protective coating.
Nearly every automotive part outlet and online store offers exhaust wrap rolls. Exhaust wrap kits may also be obtained and give the automotive enthusiast the extra value of purchasing a package which can entirely cover a set of 8 cylinder exhaust manifolds. In many situations, exhaust wrap kits cost less than one-hundred dollars.
Vehicle owners decide to wrap their headers for a variety of reasons. Whether its improved horsepower, or extending a costly external engine part’s life, the cost of buying exhaust wrap may be easily recovered in a short period of time.
Five Safety Tips When Taking Your Single Cab Off-Road
So you own a single cab and your day to day transporting destinations are to the high rise office or the shops or any other destination besides the magical 4-wheeling experience you had in mind and the very reason you decided on a single or double cab. Well what happens when you do decide to go on that 4×4 experience with your single cab bakkie and realise the terrain and skills needed to be able to enjoy the 4-wheeling experience is a lot harder than initially expected. The learning curve can be a pricey one, especially when damaging your single cab to the point where its irreparable, or losing it over a steep cliff or having it washed away in a river crossing. 4-wheeling doesn’t have to be that expensive.
It isn’t about how big your vehicle is or how much torque your vehicle has, but it is ALL about finesse. Below are some tips and hints on finding and acquiring this so called finesse when it comes to off road madness.
1 – You need to be aware of your speed at all times. Some softer terrains like sand your speed needs to be moderate and flotation through mud and snow needs to be kept up, meaning, as fast as necessary. If your speed is moderate and flowing, you are able to react better in certain situations, for example moving rocks etc. Going slow helps when you have a ground clearance deficiency resulting in less hard knocks and bumps when driving over large rocks along the path.
2 – When you are in doubt with what lies ahead for you on the path, get out and walk up ahead to survey the path. Make sure you go through the obstacle checking to see what is beyond the obstacle too, making sure you have a run off area or space afterwards when going through the obstacle. Surveying the path ahead also gives you a better idea of the obstacle and where to place the tires. Once you have committed to the obstacle, follow it through.
3 – When going up or down hills, make sure you are going directly up and directly down. If you attempt these at a diagonal position, you can easily get the single or double cab to rollover.
4 – Reducing the tire pressure improves traction in all terrain conditions, especially sand. Remember that ground clearance has been compromised.
5 – When crossing over ditches or logs at an angle make sure that one wheel at a time goes over the obstacle; the other three help the one wheel to climb over.
Following these easy steps will improve your 4×4 experience and keep your single and double cab in good shape ready for you to get back on the road and return safely to your home.
Four Things To Consider Before Buying Motorcycle Exhausts
If you have decided to replace the existing Original Equipment Manufacturer exhaust system on your motorcycle, then it is almost certain that you would have done enough research into the subject to know the basics well. Basics consist of the components of Vance and Hines motorcycle exhaust, source of purchase, bike model etc. However, there is more to purchasing exhaust systems than just basics. The more you know and evaluate your decision the better the purchase you would be able to make. The following are four things that you have to consider even after you have taken the basics into account.
Budget:
- The costs of aftermarket Vance and Hines exhaust can fall anything between just over 150 dollars to around 2,500 dollars. The low end exhaust system for bikes would be a basic replacement while the top end would be a full specification match, race condition replacement from an established manufacturer. Your budget will also direct the kind of material you would be buying. For example, titanium exhausts are much more expensive than similar exhausts made of aluminum. Furthermore, the number of silencers on your bike will also have a significant impact on your total budget. It would cost you almost double to replace the exhaust system of a bike that has two silencers.
Mode of replacement:
- There are two ways you can undertake the replacement of Vance and Hines motorcycle exhaust. One is to do it yourself with the help of the accompanying manuals while the second is to get it done from a professional mechanic. If you have never worked on your bike before then it is advisable to get it done from the mechanic as that would take away the possibility of mistakes. However, regardless of the method, you should always keep a hold of the exhaust system that you have replaced and ensure that there is enough clearance between the fairing and the piping.
Type:
- Sooner or later, you will have to make the choice between slip on motorcycle exhausts and full system exhaust systems. Needless to say, the full system replacement is recommended because of the kind of performance improvement it can give to your bike. Slip on systems should be avoided if money is not an issue.
Legalities:
- Every state or country has their own laws with respect to the noise limit from exhaust systems along with environmental control i.e. emissions. Resultantly, there are two types of exhaust systems for motorcycles. The first category conforms to all the laws and carries appropriate licenses and stickers while the second one does not. However, the second category will give your bike the maximum power boost as it is designed for racing bikes.
Finding the reliable aftermarket exhaust system seller can also be a pain as there are so many in the online market these days. Even so, a little research should make things simpler for you. Apart from the basic considerations, these four choices are also significant and must be considered before you go through with any kind of purchase of exhaust systems for bikes.
Motorcycle Exhausts Improve The Power Of The Bike
The top reason why most bikers would want to modify their bikes, regardless of its model or type, is power. Power is literally and figuratively what drives bikers all over the world. The rush of wind and push of inertia is something that every biker craves. The exhaust system of a motorcycle is one of the first things that a motorcyclist considers when he is planning to modify his bike. This is usually done through the use of aftermarket Vance and Hines motorcycle exhaust which are available in a variety of types and makes.
The exhaust systems that are used to improve the inherent power of the bike are often also referred to as free flowing exhaust systems. The principle behind a free flowing exhaust system is that it does not restrict the flow of fumes and exhaust air through various methods and components that Original Equipment Manufacturer exhaust systems use. An Original Equipment Manufacturer exhaust system uses components such as a catalytic converter and pre catalytic converter whose purpose is to reduce the high end engine power by way of introducing back pressure. Furthermore, many original exhaust systems also employ complicated mufflers aimed at reducing the high end power and noise.
Also, the power of the bike’s engine can be increased by using aftermarket modifications in the Vance and Hines exhaust such as electric or cable activated exhaust cutouts. The choices from the many exhausts available in the market can easily confuse the uninitiated buyer. The online aftermarket exhaust system market has exhausts made from a variety of materials such as carbon fiber, aluminum, titanium, steel etc. Similarly, there are many types of variations with respect to color, type of installation, level of power increase, potential noise increase, configuration etc.
In terms of functional criteria, the bike owner will have to make a choice between the full system and slip on Vance and Hines motorcycle exhaust. The difference between the two can be said to be based on the comfort of installation, the level of combination with the engine and the effectiveness. The choice between the two is not simple and requires the bike owner to evaluate the model of his motorcycle and the availability of an appropriate slip on exhaust system. Furthermore, the choice will also be directed by the preferences of the bike owner. For example, many chopper riders prefer to install a full system instead of slip on exhausts because of the level of synthesis that choppers demand.
Aftermarket exhaust systems can be found online through online manufacturers. Moreover, the slip on variety of aftermarket exhaust systems can also be installed by the owner himself with only a little care being applied. However, when looking for exhaust systems online the prospective buyer should ensure that he compares the multiple options that the internet has to offer. This will allow him to make a more informed and aware choice. The technique of replacing existing exhaust systems with aftermarket slip on exhaust systems can also be found online.

If secure measures are put in place, you will have a major better frame of mind and enjoy your double cab all the more!
About Bakkies
Pickup trucks, or as we call them in South Africa, Bakkie’s have become an integral part of our everyday travel needs and transportation. The sole purpose of a bakkie is to help carry big loads in everyday use.
Essentially a bakkie has two parts, the cabin and the bed. The cabin is basically the cockpit, where the engine is housed and the passenger and driver of the vehicle sit. The bed is the area on the rear of the bakkie. Basically this part is essentially the area that carries the big loads. The cab and the bed are separate from each other reducing the load on the chassis when the bakkie is carrying large loads.
In the last couple of years sales in bakkie’s have increased in popularity due to the practicality of owning a bakkie, especially in South Africa. A few reasons as to why they have increased is due to the fact that can carry large amounts of cargo, from machinery, furniture etc and make business deliveries a breeze. The beds are generally relatively big which allows the transport of large objects. Bakkie’s, like the Tata Xenon, have heavy duty suspensions so when the bakkie is transporting heavy, but delicate items, these items are transported safely without any damage or breakage. Not only can bakkie’s transport objects but the spacious bed also allows for the transportation of about 6 people comfortably. Bakkie’s are smaller than trucks, therefore bakkie’s are easier to drive and navigate around town and in smaller tighter areas. Bakkie’s, like the Xenon, have great fuel consumption, making them cheaper to run and easier to maintain. You can also get a wider variety of size when it comes to choosing a bakkie to suit your needs.
Bakkie’s are great and practical vehicles to own. They are easy to maintain and less taxing on the wallet. Due to their size and ease of navigating they make even an off road excursion an absolute pleasure. Bakkie’s also have a variety of accessories from which you can customise your bakkie with to better suit your needs and requirements. For example you can buy a canopy for your Tata Xenon Bakkie, allowing you to store items such as a toolbox or delivery goods etc keeping them safe and secure. You can upgrade the tires for more off roading experience. Bakkie’s also add the fun aspect into the daily commuting mix. Going to the drive in and throwing a mattress in the bed and watching the big screen from the comfort of your bakkie under the stars is also a massive advantage. Camping out too is a breeze when owning a bakkie.
Bakkie’s save a lot of time and effort and are easy to get a hold of. Bakkies last forever and can create amazing experiences and pleasure not only in your everyday transportation needs but also in comfort, style and making life all that more amazing.

F1 Safety Car Driver Bernd Mayländer Explains The Course On Race Days
Bernd Mayländer gives us an insight into the preparation and responsibility of his role driving the SLS AMG Formula One safety car ahead of this weekends Grand Prix in Hungary.
They turned up at the circuit early on Sunday morning. It was one of the greatest moments of the weekend – being able to see how the circuit and the people slowly awoke and embraced the day ahead. The battle for the F1 race started after the second GP2 race and the Porsche Supercup took place.
Charlie Whiting brought the official Formula 1 Safety Car to the starting grid and the responsibility was then all on Bernd Mayländer. He inspected the camera and radio functions once more and got the most recent weather update which is a very important part of his race preparation.
Just before 200pm Mayländer leaves the starting grid. As soon as all cars have completed the first curve Mayländer parks the Safety Car up ready for the next race. Mayländer then watches the race on the TV screen and communicates with Race Control throughout to check whether all frequencies are functioning properly.
If the race was finished without a Safety Car phase that was thankfully usually the case Mayländer would follow once the last race car has passed. If there was an accident on the circuit or the weather worsened however he communicated with Race Control to give them his opinion of the situation. Race Control then chose whether he would be position or not.
The commands he could receive from Race Control include Safety Car stand by in which he prepares for deployment Safety Car stand-down meaning the dangerous situation no longer exists; or Safety Car GO which means he must immediately drive onto the circuit and try to quickly maneuver in front of the leading car. Mayländer has a difficult task during a Safety Car phase as he must ensure it is safe but also drive around the circuit at a relevant speed. This is so the race cars do not overheat from the lack of cooling air and to prevent their tyre pressure from decreasing.
Mayländer then drives around the circuit until the hazardous situation has been overcome. Before reaching the next possible exit he turns into the pit lane and the grid is released. If a support race is not necessary his day usually ends there. When his work is finished for the day he spends his Sunday evenings at home.
